Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi took the wraps off its 40-inch smart TV in its home market China. Notably, this is the second model as the brand's first smart TV is a 70-inch offering, which was launched in August. While it has some interesting aspects, it comes with no special features.

Redmi TV With 40-Inch Display, 8W Speakers Announced

40-Inch Redmi TV Details

Well, the Redmi TV comes with a simple 40-inch FHD 1080p display with a 60Hz refresh rate. There are two 8W speakers on smart TV. The 40-inch Redmi TV is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Cortex A53 Amlogic chipset that is teamed up with Mali-450 MP2 GPU. The other aspects of smart TV include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Similar to the Xiaomi smart TVs, this new offering from Redmi comes with PatchWall UI[1]. It features DTS 2.0 + Digital Out and Dolby Audio that give good quality audio output from the two 8W speakers. The connectivity aspects of this smart TV include two HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, Wi-Fi, and other standard options.

Price And Availability

The Redmi TV 40-inch model is priced affordable at 999 yuan (approx. Rs. 10,000) in China. This smart TV is up for sale already in the country via several online retailers. However, there is no word regarding when the device will be launched in the global markets in India.

What We Think

Back in August, the first Redmi TV with a 70-inch panel[2] was launched. This one features a near bezel-less design with 4K HDR resolution, which makes it a premium offering. However, the company, which is known for pricing its offerings aggressively followed the same strategy with the 70-inch Redmi TV.

While there is no word regarding the global launch of the Redmi TV models, we are yet to see when these devices will be made available for the Redmi fans in India and other markets. Notably, we are sure that these TVs will sell great in the Indian market, where Xiaomi is already dominating the smart TV market segment with its affordable offerings.
