Food delivery: which grocery and meal delivery services have slots right now?

As England moves through its second coronavirus lockdown of the year, the population is going to rely even more on getting important groceries and supplies delivered to their homes.

At the moment, after taking a look through delivery slots and options available from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Asda, Iceland and more, we've found that some stores are beginning to fill up through the month.

As it stands, Tesco home delivery has excellent availability for the coming few weeks right through to the end of the month, with the earliest delivery being November 17.

Morrisons, on the other hand, has a few slots these next three days, while Iceland in London has free slots for the rest of the week. We've seen shops showing greater availability compared to the first lockdown, which is a huge relief.

Supermarkets will continue to offer priority delivery slots to elderly and vulnerable customers. Supermarkets are using customer and government data to prioritise food delivery slots for those who need it most. Make sure you've signed up to the government's database of clinically vulnerable people if you need support. Sainsbury's, for instance, has a special service which you can see here.

Earlier this year, both Morrisons and Asda launched a food box service to help cope with demand caused by the first lockdown, and this will continue as we enter the second. Morrisons food boxes offer a great range of options, while Asda's food box is best if you need to fill your cupboards with household essentials.

Grocery delivery

Just like the first lockdown, we've signed up to all the major supermarkets and we're assessing the situation daily across the country, in London, Leeds, Portsmouth, Manchester and Bath. Your area may differ and indeed your shops may also differ, but there's plenty of reason to believe that availability on delivering groceries should be much easier than it was earlier in the year.

Importantly, for all of the below supermarkets, you will need an account which we recommend you do as soon as you can as doing so will allow you to see your own local availability for deliveries.

Amazon Fresh food delivery: Delivery is included in your Prime membership for orders above £40

Amazon Fresh is included with Amazon Prime, allowing customers to get fresh groceries delivered on the same day as ordering at a low-price. (If you don't have Prime, you can sign up for a free trial and cancel before the trial ends with no strings attached.) In the UK, a service which was live earlier this year called Amazon Pantry is no longer available as of June 30.

Tesco food delivery: available slots for delivery and collection

If you're a Tesco shopper, you have a lot of options for delivery. Portsmouth, London, Manchester, Leeds and Bath have some slots available throughout the month. You can even get yourself a delivery as early as November 17, but depending on your location there are more options from next week. With that in mind, Click and Collect slots are healthy throughout the month. Look for a delivery slot at Tesco

Morrisons food delivery:  delivery available this week

Delivery from Morrisons has been rare until now. However, if you live in London you might struggle to get one since it was the only place we checked which didn't show any availability. You can get a Morrisons delivery over the next three days, with some available tomorrow and the bulk of slots freeing up Wednesday and Thursday this week. Buy Morrisons shopping online.

Iceland food delivery: new slots available for the week

Iceland is showing available slots through to November 22, all of which are available. You can get delivery for tomorrow and there's plenty of options to get one later in the week - make sure you check out Iceland's website for availability. You can grab free next day delivery from Iceland when you spend £35, so fill your freezers up.

Asda food delivery: a smattering of slots available for this week, more opening-up towards the end of the month

Asda is showing delivery options well into December at this point, most of which are available nationwide. However, right now, the earliest delivery available for Leeds is November 30. Elsewhere, this coming week has good availability, with more freeing up next week and beyond. You're far better off opting for Click & Collect, which is showing plenty of free slots throughout the month. Book an Asda delivery now

Ocado food delivery: no delivery slots available

Ocado is appearing the same as Morrisons in that it shows the next three days from right now. There are no delivery slots available at all. As each day goes by this might well change and we will let you know when it does. During the first lockdown, Ocado was emailing customers with priority access to delivery. Look for a delivery slot at Ocado

Sainsbury's food delivery: home delivery and click & collect slots available

Sainsbury's only has a few slots for the coming week, but there's plenty of chances for you to get a delivery. The earliest delivery you can get is on November 18, with more available after that date. It has a healthy amount of Click & Collect options which we would encourage you to use. As always, this will depend on your local store. Look for a delivery slot at Sainsbury's

Waitrose food delivery: barely any slots available

Waitrose has a smattering of available slots depending on your location. In general, there's limited availability for this week with the bulk of slots showing up on Monday, November 23. There's more choice if you're willing to opt for Click & Collect. The supermarket will be continuing its Volunteer's Shopping Card for self-isolating customers who can't get to the shops themselves. Look for a delivery slot at Waitrose
